Beautiful Textiles

Swedish brand HIMLA has launched a unique collaboration with interior
stylist and photographer Daniella Witte, and the imagery she has created
is stunning. Representing Scandinavian Simplicity, most of HIMLA’S products
made from linen, but they also work with other natural materials like wool,
silk and cotton.

Using textiles from the range, Daniella has created a relaxed interior with
natural colors and a simple aesthetic. Beautiful stone floors are softened
with sheer linen curtains and a warm layering of textiles that carry through
to every room in the home. These include soft rugs underfoot in the living
room, scattered cushions on the sofa and a lovely layering of tablecloth and
napkins on the dining table. Bathed in light, the bedroom is my favorite.

Beautiful Sculpture

Recently I had the pleasure to visit these magical willow houses. Actually it’s an art installation by Patrick Dougherty at the Palo Alto Art Center.

willow branch sculpture

They are little huts of woven willow branches creating tunnels and arches, in and out of doorways. The art piece is called Double Take and here is a YouTube video about its installation. If you happen to be in the SF Bay Area Peninsula area, the Palo Alto Art Center is worth a visit. Patrick Dougherty’s sculptures have been there for a few years, and the sculpture will remain until the willow branches naturally decay.

Beautiful 300 Year Old House Renovated

This home renovation in Tel Aviv is breath-taking.
This 300-plus year-old house is located in the ancient
port city of Jaffa, the oldest part of the Tel Aviv-Jaffa
municipality in Israel. The gorgeous renovation is by
the Tel Aviv-based Pitsou Kedem Architects
well-known for their minimalist approach to
architecture and design. The design maximizes
the sea view while keeping the historical feel of
the building intact. It feels like a sanctuary.
I love the gorgeous arches, the exposed texture
of the old stone, and the beautiful balance between
the old and the new, such poise. Seriously beautiful.
