As the week comes to an end a bit of poetry is on my mind reminding me to always hold on to my power and never relent under any circumstance.

INVICTUS
Out of the night which covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeoning of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:

We all go through childhood, but no two experiences are alike. Whether it’s culture, class, and/or geography, it all shapes these formative years in a powerful way. But despite these differences, as young people, we each explore the world around us with the same sense of wonder and imagination. These varied snapshots highlight a universal truth about life—this juxtaposition of emotion starts when we’re young and never ends. We just grow older and wiser. Swinging to me personifies the meaning of happiness.
It’s the everyday simple pleasures unencumbered with

It all started with my love for graphic design.

In my career I started out as a graphic designer then became a marketing manager. However I having always done my own interiors (and for others) and fell passionately in love with architecture as my interests matured and boredom set in. This has led me to a career in interior design which I’ve come to love because it allows me to combine all my interests; architecture, graphic design, photography, furniture design, and marketing into one nice compatible family. Everyone tells me to make a niche but how can I give up one area of design for another? It’s like choosing one child over another, impossible. Combined with an interest in psychology and always curious about why we do what we do, I feel so fortunate to wake up every morning and have something to look forward to.

Which leads me to this fabulous article about other designers who transformed their careers. Enjoy your career and be especially thankful if it’s a creative one!

Life has been a bit hectic lately so I’m channeling my new November attitude; simple and relaxed.

November means ‘the ninth month’ so why is it actually the 11th month in the year? The calendar used in the Western world today is the Gregorian calendar. It came into being in 1582 when Pope Gregory XIII accepted the system proposed by Aloysius Lilius. The original Roman year (from which both the Julian and Gregorian calendars are based) had only ten months and it was Numa Pompilius, a King of Rome around 700 BC, who added January (Januarius) and February (Februarius).
