Beautiful Architecture Meets Color

What do you get when you mix Architecture, Symmetry, Minimalism, Fashion, Friendship and the most Perfect Color Palettes? An ongoing image series titled Other On, produced by two talented photographers – June Kim and Michelle Cho.

There is a strong sense of duality at play in all of these images – although perfectly composed and deliciously captivating, a heightened sense of intrigue and drama is achieved thanks to the subjects who almost always have their faces turned away from the camera. Add to the mix some pretty epic architecture and you’ve got yourself a killer photography series that will stay in my mind long after the ongoing internet vortex sucks it away from my screen.

Beautiful Lavender

Every summer I visit the lavender farms in Sequim, Washington.
Everything is offered, dried flowers and leaves for sachet, small
bundles of the whole stem with flowers on them that will dry
naturally when placed in a vase or basket, soaps, lotions, and
essential oil for  bath, potpourri and sachets are just a few
of the uses. The farms have been there for many years and
visiting is like stepping back into an old world garden.

“And lavender, whose spikes of azure bloom
shall be, ere-while, in arid bundles bound
to lurk admist the labours of her loom,
and crown her kerchiefs witl mickle rare perfume.”

  • In perfume, scented bath oils, and even mummification, the ancient
    Egyptians used lavender profusely.
  • Lavender in water can be used for cleaning floors and furniture.
It is an excellent and aromatic cleaner which can be used for laundry also.
  • Nurses bathed the wounds of soldiers with a lavender wash, for its
healing properties, during World War I.

Beautiful Rugged Washington Coast

The beautiful ocean along the rugged Washington state coastline beaches is one place where nothing ever changes….which is a rare in a world where change never ceases. The constant gray, misty weather is as static as ever and the feeling of isolation is heavy. Years can pass between visits and it’s still the same, kind of like an old friend who never changes.

Beautiful iPhone Photography

Thanks to the wonderful word of Instagram,
artful photography has never been so user
friendly. Everybody can do it – even the
mini Lego peeps. U.K.-based photographer
Andrew Whyte reveals the world through
the lens of a Lego man who is obviously
having adventures of his own whether it be
climbing a fence or slipping on a banana peel.
My favorite?  The diminutive little man
facing a lonely bench looming in the
background. Enjoy more Legography here.

Beautiful New York City Circa 1980s

Steven Siegel has been photographing the streets and subways
of New York City for 30 years, and his Flickr album is a time
capsule of a grittier, feral city — before Times Square was
scrubbed clean and 9/11 changed the metropolis forever.
His photos are remarkable. Siegel and friends created several
dreamlike scenarios (in a pre-Photoshop era) with clever
angles, poses, and accidental exposures. Take a closer look
and visit Siegel’s Flickr page for a trip back in time to New York
in the 1980s.
