Her’s the story of the Statue of Liberty at Alki Beach — it was a gift to the City of Seattle in 1952 and is meant to commemorate the courage of early Seattleites. It is a place to reflect, and it became a memorial gathering site after 9/11. http://www.seattle.gov/parks/park_detail.asp?ID=445
