Descending the very cool, illuminated, sleek escalator
in the Seattle Library.

I did something I haven’t done in a long time and attended
a book reading at the Seattle Downtown Library.
The subject was earthquakes presented by Sandi Doughton.
Interesting but only slightly unnerving at the same time.
Having lived in earthquake zones I’ve come to not fear
earthquakes; all you can do is be well prepared.
As I was leaving I was reminded of the beauty of the
library building itself and how I hope it never descends
into rubble.

Outside Amazon headquarters is this wonderful
modern sculpture. Love the circular pattern
reminiscent of stacked logs.

Love the translucent quality of this poppy.

At the center of the Cascade P-Patch is a sitting area
with this striking rainbow mosaic pathway.

So I did an experiment comparing a color photo
and a similar one in black and white.
I like the black and white photo better.
The shadows give it an abstract quality
and the texture is more prominent.
