I randomly found this beautiful gem of a book at a used bookstore for a buck, what a steal. It’s a thrilling and irreverent read not only about Rembrandt but his doctor friend, the author, and Amsterdam as well. While the story is controversial and perhaps embellished, who cares? Love the “Illustrated by Himself” and his signature R.v.R.
